The Philatelic and Numismatic office of the Republic of San Marino dedicates a 2 euro commemorative uncirculated coin to the “400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare". English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564. He is considered as one of the greatest personalities of the worldwide literature. He is described by historians as one of the most important exponent of the English Renaissance. Shakespeare died on April 23rd 1616 and buried in the Stratford Church. Nowadays his fame is related to his great plays such as “Hamlet”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Macbeth” and “Henry IV”.
