The arcing semi-circles and swooping diagonal lines in the design reflect the movement, dynamism and flow of the bird in flight. The obverse of the coin depicts the Estonian national bird, the swallow. The name of the bird, in English 'HIRUNDO RUSTICA', is struck on the top. The name of the country of origin 'EESTI' and the year of issue '2023' are embossed at the bottom. The 2 euro coin commemorates a small migratory bird belonging to the swallow family. The swallow is one of the symbols of Estonia and is held in special esteem by its citizens.
